SWEETWATER COUNTY - Four years ago, the voters of Sweetwater County chose a new direction, and I was honored to be one of the three candidates elected to help lead that change.

Since then, our commission has worked hard to earn the public’s trust. We’ve worked together professionally, tackled difficult issues, respected each other’s perspectives, and remained focused on serving the people of Sweetwater County. Together, we’ve worked to build a commission that functions professionally, respectfully, and effectively on behalf of the people we serve.

With the close of candidate filing, a new chapter begins for Sweetwater County. New candidates have stepped forward to offer their service to our community, and Commissioner Robb Slaughter will not be seeking another term.

While I am encouraged to see citizens willing to step forward and serve, I would be remiss if I didn’t take a moment to thank Commissioner Robb Slaughter for his service, leadership, and friendship. Four years ago, the voters elected the three of us to help bring a new direction to county government, and it has been a privilege to serve alongside him.

I completely understand and support Robb’s decision to begin a new chapter in his life, although I will certainly miss working with him. Over the past four years, I have learned a great deal from his experience, judgment, and commitment to Sweetwater County. Our community is better because of his service, and I wish him and Marriella all the best in the next chapter of their lives. Knowing Marriella, I suspect she already has a few plans in mind.

Looking forward, I would be honored to continue serving the citizens of Sweetwater County for another term. Good government depends on good people being willing to serve, and I remain committed to working collaboratively with whoever the voters choose to represent them.
