In Wyoming, the mainstream media is pressuring the State to release the names of 6,433 people who have state issued Concealed Carry Weapons permits. Their argument is that the names are public record and should be published.

Well, you know what? The media needs a wakeup call! They need to be reminded that those are the names of private individuals, and shouldn’t be handed out just for the asking. They also need to realize that the publication of those names could very well put people in danger who have nothing to do with the list. Think of it, when a carjacker sees a car he wants, he just runs the plate, gets an identity of the driver, and compares it to the list. No concealed carry license? Easy pickings my friend! This could be true for burglary, muggings, rape, you name it.

That’s the more obvious cost of such an invasion of our privacy. If you look a little closer though, something else jumps out at you. In the event of a foreign invasion of American soil, (think Red Dawn) the invading country has to look no farther than the newspaper to find out who their opposition is. If they just hit the houses on this list, they nail all the capitalist bastards who pose a threat! This theory could be broadened to include all gun registrations and even those handy Brady Bill background checks. If concealed carry licenses becomes public record, don’t you think that records of gun ownership will be far behind? “Oh, look here in the newspaper honey, that Simmons guy down the street owns a S & W .357! Didn’t you want one of those for Christmas? Well, next time he’s at work, let’s just go see if he leaves his door unlocked, shall we?”

Humor aside, we have to ask ourselves, just what does the media hope to accomplish by having these names publicized? The final answer is C Regis: To get guns out of the publics’ hands for good! What the media doesn’t realize though, is that they are sabotaging themselves. They just can’t get it through their thick brain-plates that it is us radicals, who believe in exercising our second amendment rights, that keep their first amendment rights intact! Do they really believe that once the federal government is free of the threat of retaliation by an armed electorate that they will give a squat about the freedom of speech? Hell no! This is a free country because our forefathers knew that to keep it free the government would forever have to be answerable to the people. That meant always allowing the people to speak freely against the government, and ensuring that the people would have the ability to rise up against the government if tried to do anything about it. How do the people do that? With arms. I’m not talking about the kind you put in your shirt sleeve either! I’m talking about the blued steel, rifled barrel, ivory gripped, loud blasting, hole blowing kind. The very kind that many in our government would like to make illegal!

You need to ask yourself one more question. Why do they want to take away our guns? Is it to protect us from crime? Give me another “Hell no!” Every, and I mean EVERY, study shows that states with high gun ownership and liberal gun laws have the lowest rates of violent crime. That argument doesn’t wash. Is it to protect our children? One more “Hell no!” If that was the case, they would have to ban trampolines, swimming pools, and walks on the sidewalk, because each of them kill a whole lot more of our kids every year than guns! The truth is, some people in our government don’t like the idea of us people being in control. By taking away our guns, they take away our power.

In the upcoming elections, many people are talking about litmus tests like abortion, civil rights, and drug benefits. Well, none of those matter if we give up control over our own lives. The only litmus test I’ll be applying is the right to bear arms. Either a candidate supports the second amendment, or he does not. There is no in between.

I saw a bumper sticker that sums is all up. “Fear the government that fears your gun!”
